7.9 SIMPLE NETWORK MANAGEMENT PROTOCOL (SNMP)
The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) allows a network administrator to monitor
a
network
by
retrieving
settings
on
remote
network
devices.
To
do
t his,
t he
administrator
typically
runs
an
SNMP
management
station
program
such
as
MIB
browser
on
a
local
host
to
obtain information from t he SNMP agent, in t his case t he 3G±1WB (if SNMP enabled). An SNMP
‘community’ performs t he function of aut henticating SNMP traffic. A ‘community name’ acts as
a password t hat is typically shared among SNMP agents and managers.
By default, SNMP agent is enabled on t he gateway.
SETTING UP SNMP AGENT
1.
Open a web browser (Ie/Firefox/Safari), type in LAN address of t he gateway (
http://10.0.0.138/
by default) to log into t he web interface.

The login username and password by default is admin/admin.

Go to Advanced Settings > SNMP. Enable SNMP agent and set up all options according to t he
screenshot below.

Click Save/Apply to activate t hese settings.

SIMPLE NETWORK TIME PROTOCOL (SNTP)
This screen allows you to configure t he time settings of your Gateway. To automatically
synchronize wit h Internet time servers, tick t he box as illustrated below.
The following options should now appear (see screenshot below):
Options
Description
First NTP time server:
Select the required server.
Second NTP time server:
Select second time server, if required.
Time zone offset:
Select the local time zone.
Configure t hese options and t hen click Save/Apply to activate.
NOTE:
SNTP must be activated to use Parental Control (section 7.5).

USB SETTINGS
The USB Settings option found in t he Advanced Settings drop down menu configures USB port
related parameters in t he following two areas:

Print Server
•
USB Storage
7.11.1
PRINT SERVER
These steps explain t he procedure for enabling t he Print Server.
1:
To enable t he print server, Select Enable on-board print server checkbox and enter Printer
name and Make and model
NOTE:
The printer name can be any text string up to 40 characters. The Make and model can be any text
string up to 1±8 characters.

Go to t he Printers and Faxes application in t he Control Panel and select t he Add a printer
function (as located on t he side menu below).

Click Next to continue, when you see t he dialog box below.

Select Network Printer and click Next.

Select Connect to a printer on t he Internet and enter your printer link.
NOTE:
t he printer name must be t he same name entered in t he web user interface “printer server setting”
as in step 1.
