USB STORAGE
The Bigpond Elite
TM
Wireless Broadband Network Gateway allows you to connect a USB storage
device and share it wit h all of t he users on t he network.
By
default,
t his
feature
is
already
enabled,
so
it
is
simply
a
matter
of
connecting
your
USB
storage device and entering t he appropriate network location.
If you wish to modify any of t hese features, t he steps below explain t he procedure for enabling
t he USB Storage.
1:
Ensure t hat t he Enable USB Storage checkbox is checked in t he Web User Interface.
To do t his, log into t he device using t he procedure found in Section 3.4 t hen select Advanced

Enable
USB
Storage checkbox and enter t he Gateway Name and USB Drive Name.
Field
Description
Gateway Name
The hostname of the Gateway device. This should only be modified
if there are multiple Bigpond Elite
TM
Wireless Broadband Network
Gateway’s on your network. The default name is “BigPond21”.
USB Drive Name
The name of USB drive. This should only be modified if there are
multiple USB devices connected to your Bigpond EliteTM Wireless
Broadband Network Gateway. The default name is “USB-Storage”

FOR WINDOWS XP:

Open a web-browser (such as Internet explorer, Firefox or Safari) and type in t he address
\\”GatewayName”\”USBDriveName”\ (e.g. \\Bigpond±1\USB-Storage)
NOTE:
There is no username and password required to access t he USB drive, t he user will be able to
read/write t he folder/files in t he USB drive.
TO MAP THE USB STORAGE DRIVE
To enable easy access to t he USB Storage Drive, you can map t he network location. To do t his,
use t he following steps:
1.
Click on t he Start button and click My Computer

Clink on tools > Map network drive

In t he Folder field, enter t he address of t he USB Storage Drive \\GatewayName\USBDriveName
(e.g. \\Bigpond±1\USB-Storage)
4.
To access t he USB Storage Drive in t he future, you can simply double-click on t he item in
t he My Computer menu

FOR MAC OSX:

From t he Finder, select t he Go and t hen click Connect to Server

In t he address field of t he Connect to Server dialog, type in t he address:
smb:// “GatewayName”/“USBDriveName” (e.g. smb://Bigpond±1/USB-Storage)

Click t he + button to add t his server to t he list of Favourites and t hen click Connect
5.
Select t he Guest radio button and t hen click Connect
