Attach the Antennas
The router comes with three antennas.
To attach the antennas:

Align the antennas with the antenna posts on the back panel of the
modem router
.

Attach the antennas on the threaded antenna posts.
3.
Position the antennas for the best WiFi performance.
NETGEAR recommends that the center antenna be vertical and that you aim the others outward at
45-degree angles, as shown.

The status LEDs and buttons are located on the top panel of the
modem router

Solid white
. The
modem router
detected an Internet connection.
Solid amber
. The
modem router
is not connected to a DSL, cable, or fiber
modem, or the
modem router
did not detect an Internet connection.

Blinking white
. Data is being transmitted over the Internet connection.
Alternating white and amber
. The traffic meter is enabled and the traffic limit
is reached.
Off
.The
modem router
cannot connect to the Internet or the Internet connection
failed.

DSL
Solid white
. The
modem router
is connected to a DSL service and the DSL
connection is ready.
Blinking white
. The
modem router
is negotiating the best possible speed on
the DSL line.
Off
.The
modem router
is not connected to a DSL service or a DSL connection
is not established.
2.4 GHz WiFi
Solid white
. The 2.4 GHz WiFi radio is operating.
Blinking white
. The
modem router
is sending or receiving WiFi traffic over the
2.4 GHz radio.
Off
. The 2.4 GHz WiFi radio is off.
5 GHz WiFi
Solid white
. The 5 GHz WiFi radio is operating.
Blinking white
. The
modem router
is sending or receiving WiFi traffic over the
5 GHz radio.
Off
. The 5 GHz WiFi radio is off.
USB 3.0 port 1 and USB
3.0 port 2
Solid white
. A USB device is connected and is ready.
Blinking white
. Data is being transmitted to or from the USB device.
Off
. No USB device is connected, or someone clicked the

button and it is now safe to remove the attached USB device.
The LED color indicates the speed: white for Gigabit Ethernet connections and
amber for 100 Mbps or 10 Mbps Ethernet connections.

Description
LED
Solid white or solid amber
. A powered-on device is connected to the Ethernet
port.
Blinking white or blinking amber
. Data is being transmitted over the port.
Off
. No powered-on device is connected to the Ethernet port.
Pressing this button for two seconds turns the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi radios on
and off.
WiFi On/Off button with
WiFi LED
If this LED is lit, the WiFi radios are on. If this LED is off, the WiFi radios are turned
off and you cannot use WiFi to connect to the
modem router
.

This button lets you use WPS to join the WiFi network without typing the WiFi
password.The WPS LED blinks white during this process and then lights solid white.

You can use the
LED On/Off
switch on the back panel of the
modem router
to turn most LEDs on the top
of the
modem router
on or off (see
Back Panel with Ports, Buttons, Connectors, and Switch
on page 15).
If you turn off the LEDs, the Power LED remains on.
Back Panel with Ports, Buttons, Connectors, and Switch
The back panel of the
modem router
provides ports, buttons, antenna connectors, a DC power connector,
and an LED switch. For information about attaching the antennas, see

on page 11.
