4.11 How to Configure Certain Computers Accessing to Internet
We can specify certain computers (e.g.,
192.168.1.10 ~ 192.168.1.20) accessing to Internet
through Vigor router. Others (e.g., 192.168.1.31 and 192.168.1.32) outside the range can get
the source from LAN only.
The way we can use is to set two rules under
Firewall
. For
Rule 1
of
Set 2
under
Firewall>>Filter Setup
is used as the default setting, we have to create a new rule starting
from Filter Rule 2 of Set 2.
1.
Access into the web user interface of Vigor router.
2.
Open
Firewall>>Filter Setup
. Click the
Set 2
link and choose the
Filter Rule 2
button.

Check the box of
Check to enable the Filter Rule
. Type the comments (e.g.,
block_all
).
Choose
Block If No Further Match
for the
Filter
setting. Then, click
OK
.
Note:
In default, the router will check the packets starting with Set 2, Filter Rule 2 to
Filter Rule 7. If
Block If No Further Match
for is selected for
Filter
,
the firewall of
the router would check the packets with the rules starting from Rule 3 to Rule 7. The
packets not matching with the rules will be processed according to Rule 2.

Next, set another rule. Just open
Firewall>>Filter Setup
. Click the
Set 2
link and
choose the
Filter Rule 3
button.

Check the box of
Check to enable the Filter Rule
. Type the comments (e.g.,
open_ip
).
Click the
Edit
button for
Source IP
.

A dialog box will be popped up. Choose
Range Address
as
Address Type
by using the
Start IP
, and type 192.168.1.20 in the
field of
End IP
. Then, click
OK
to save the settings. The computers within the range can
access into the Internet.

Now, check the content of
Source IP
is correct or not. The action for
Filter
shall be set
with
Pass Immediately.
Then, click
OK
to save the settings.

Both filter rules have been created. Click

Now, all the settings are configured well. Only the computers with the IP addresses
