Using the LAN IPv6 Option
Use the
LAN IPv6
option to connect clients with LAN IPv6 addresses.
Steps
To configure LAN IPv6 settings:
1.
Click
Basic
from the main menu.
2. Click
LAN IPv6
from the left side menu. Field descriptions are listed below the screen
example.
Enable Rapid Commit
Enables Rapid Commit. When enabled, the server recognizes
this option in Solicit messages sent from the DHCPv6 client.
The server and client then use a two-message exchange
(Solicit and Reply) to configure clients, rather than the default
four-message exchange (Solicit, Advertise, Request, and
Reply). This provides faster client configuration when networks
are under heavy traffic loads.
Enable Unicast
Enables Unicast, which is disabled by default. Unicast
transmission is defined to be between a single sender and a
single user over a network.
Apply
Saves changes.
Restore DhcpV6 Defaults
Restores default DHCPv6 values.

Using the DDNS Option
Use the dynamic domain name system (DDNS) to assign a changing IP address to a
constant pre-defined host name. The host can then be contacted by other hosts on the
Internet, even if its IP address changes.
The DDNS service for the DVW32CB is provided through a third-party and can be
purchased from Dynamic Network Services Inc. at www.dynDNS.com.
Steps
To use the DDNS option:
1.
Click
Basic
from the main menu.
2. Click
DDNS
from the left side menu. Field descriptions are listed below the screen
example.

Using the Static Lease Option
You can use the
Static Lease
option to assign IP addresses to clients on your network
that do not change. A static lease ensures a specific device always gets the same IP
address, especially if the devices are powered on and off or disconnected and
reconnected. This may be useful in a variety of networking scenarios where you need
more control over the network and the clients connected to it. Examples is which you may
need to use a static lease include:
Using the IP Filtering Option on page 47
Using the Port Filtering Option on page 49
Using the DMZ Host Option on page 57
Steps
To assign static IP addresses:
1.
Click
Basic
from the main menu.
2. Click
Static Lease
from the left side menu. Field descriptions are listed below the
screen example.
Host Name
Defines the host name for the DDNS account.
