Instructions for Converting the Music File

Instructions for Converting the Music File
The System only supports the raw G711u format. Follow these instructions to convert your music file to the
supported format:
1.
Open the music conversion program you use.
2.
Convert the music file to this format:
Raw Type - μ-Law
Frequency - 8 kHz
Bits per Sample - 8 Kps
Channels - Mono
The music file should be encoded in G711u format at 8000 samples/second. It should not contain any extra
header information, and its maximum length is 65.536 seconds (524,288 bytes).
3.
Save the converted music file to the TFTP filesystem root directory.
This file must be saved in the root directory so the TFTP server can upload it to the System later.
Instructions for Configuring the IP Telephony System
Before you begin, make sure the TFTP server software is running on your computer.
1.
To access the Web-based Utility of the System, launch Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, and enter the
System’s default local IP address,
192.168.0.1
, in the
Address
field. Press the
Enter
key.
2.
You may be asked for your user name and password. Enter the user name. The default user name for
administrative access is
admin
, and the default user name for user access is
user
. (These user names
cannot be changed.) Then enter the password supplied by your Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP).
3.
Click the
Voice
tab.
4.
Click the
SIP
tab.
5.
In the PBX Parameters section, enter

field.
The server_IP_address is the local IP address of the computer you are using. The port is the port number used
by the TFTP server; by default it is

. The path indicates the location and name of the converted music file,
which has been saved in the TFTP filesystem root directory.

For example, if the computer’s local IP address is 192.168.0.5, the directory is named rootdirectory, and the
converted music file is named jazzmusic.dat, then tftp://192.168.0.5:69/rootdirectory/jazzmusic.dat should be
entered in the
Internal Music URL
field. (The default port number,

, is used.)
6.
Click the
Submit All Changes
button.
7.
The System will reboot.
8.
After its reboot, the System will download the file and store the samples in flash memory.
NOTE:
Keep the default,
imusic
, in the
Call Park MOH Server
field, so the call park feature
will use the music file you have downloaded (imusic is the internal music file of the System).

Appendix E: Finding the MAC Address and IP Address for Your
Ethernet Adapter
This section describes how to find the MAC address for your computer’s Ethernet adapter so you can use the MAC
address cloning feature of the Router. You can also find the IP address of your computer’s Ethernet adapter. This
IP address is used for the Router’s forwarding and/or DMZ features. Follow the steps in this appendix to find the
adapter’s MAC or IP address in Windows 98, Me, 2000, or XP.
Windows 98 or Me Instructions
1.
Click
Start
and
Run
. In the
Open
field, enter
winipcfg
. Then press the
Enter
key or the
OK
button.
2.
When the
IP Configuration
screen appears, select the Ethernet adapter you have connected to the Router via a
CAT 5 Ethernet network cable.
3.
Write down the Adapter Address as shown on your computer screen. This is the MAC address for your
Ethernet adapter and is shown as a series of numbers and letters.
The MAC address/Adapter Address is what you will use for MAC address cloning or MAC filtering.
The example shows the Ethernet adapter’s IP address as 192.168.1.100. Your computer may show something
different.

Almost all networking products require Microsoft Windows. Windows is the most used operating system in the
world and comes with many features that help make networking easier. These features can be accessed through
Windows Help and are described in this appendix.
TCP/IP
Before a computer can communicate with the Router, TCP/IP must be enabled. TCP/IP is a set of instructions, or
protocol, all PCs follow to communicate over a wired or wireless network. Your PCs will not be able to utilize
networking without having TCP/IP enabled. Windows Help provides complete instructions on enabling TCP/IP.
Shared Resources
If you wish to share printers, folders, or files over your network, Windows Help provides complete instructions on
utilizing shared resources.
Network Neighborhood/My Network Places
Other PCs on your network will appear under Network Neighborhood or My Network Places (depending upon the
version of Windows you're running). Windows Help provides complete instructions on adding PCs to your
network.
