The Local Certificates Screen
Click
Security >
Certificates
to open the
Local Certificates
screen. This is the
Device’s summary list of certificates and certification requests.

The following table describes the labels in this screen.

Local Certificates
LABEL
DESCRIPTION
Name
This field displays the name used to identify this certificate. It is
recommended that you give each certificate a unique name.
In Use
This field displays how many applications use the certificate.
Subject
This field displays identifying information about the certificate’s owner,
such as CN (Common Name), OU (Organizational Unit or department),
O (Organization or company) and C (Country). It is recommended that
each certificate have unique subject information.
Type
This field displays what kind of certificate this is.
request
represents a certification request and is not yet a valid
certificate. Send a certification request to a certification authority, which
then issues a certificate. Use the
Load Certificate
screen to import the
certificate and replace the request.
signed
represents a certificate issued by a certification authority.
Modify
Click the
View
button to open a screen with an in-depth list of
information about the certificate (or certification request).
Click the
Load Signed
button to import a valid certification to replace
the request.
Click the
Remove
button to delete the certificate (or certification
request). You cannot delete a certificate that one or more features is
configured to use.

to open the
My Certificate Create
screen. Use this screen to have the
Device generate a certification request.

Click this button to go to the screen where you can have the Device
generate a certification request.
Import
Certificate
Click this button to open a screen where you can save the certificate
that you have enrolled from a certification authority from your
computer to the Device.

Create Certificate Request

Certificate Name
Type up to 31 ASCII characters (not including spaces) to identify this
certificate.
Common Name
Select a radio button to identify the certificate’s owner by IP address,
domain name or e-mail address. Type the IP address (in dotted
decimal notation), domain name or e-mail address in the field
provided. The domain name or e-mail address can be up to 31 ASCII
characters. The domain name or e-mail address is for identification
purposes only and can be any string.
Organization Name
Type up to 127 characters to identify the company or group to which
the certificate owner belongs. You may use any character, including
spaces, but the Device drops trailing spaces.
State/Province
Name
Type up to 127 characters to identify the state or province where the
certificate owner is located. You may use any character, including
spaces, but the Device drops trailing spaces.
Country/Region
Name
Select a country to identify the nation where the certificate owner is
located.

After you click
Apply
, the
Certificate Request Details
screen displays. Click
Load Signed Certificate
to import a certificate signed by the CA to replace the
request (see
Section 11.3.4 on page 172
). Otherwise, click
Back
to return to the
Local Certificates
screen. See
Section 11.3.3 on page 170
for field information.

Click

Import
Certificate
to open the
Import Local Certificate
screen. Follow the instructions
in this screen to save an existing certificate to the Device.

to return to the previous screen.
Apply
Click
Apply
to begin certificate or certification request generation.

screen. Use this screen to view in-depth certificate information and
change the certificate’s name.

Key
Copy and paste the private key into the text box to store it on the Device.

to return to the previous screen.
Apply

to save the certificate on the Device.
