introduces important features of this manual.

Audience, Conventions, Scope

This reference manual assumes that the reader has basic-to-intermediate computer and Internet

skills. However, basic computer network, Internet, firewall, and networking technology tutorial

information is provided in the appendices.

How to Use this Manual

The HTML version of this manual includes a variety of navigation features as well as links to PDF

Left pane

. Use the left pane to view the Contents, Index, Search, and Favorites tabs.

To view the HTML version of the manual, you must have a version 4 or later IE or Netscape

browser with JavaScript enabled.

Toolbar buttons

. Use the toolbar buttons across the top to navigate, print pages, and more.

The Show in Contents button locates the current topic in the Contents tab.

Previous/Next buttons display the previous or next topic.

The PDF button links to a PDF version of the full manual.

The Print button prints the current topic. Using this button when a

step-by-step procedure is displayed will send the entire procedure to your

printer. You do not have to worry about specifying the correct range of pages.

How to Print this Manual

To print this manual you may choose one of the following options, according to your needs:

Printing a “How To” Sequence of Steps in the HTML View

the upper right of the toolbar to print the currently displayed topic. Using this button when a

step-by-step procedure is displayed will send the entire procedure to your printer. You do not

have to worry about specifying the correct range of pages.

. Use the

Click the “PDF of This Chapter” link at the top right of any page in the chapter you want

to print. The PDF version of the chapter you were viewing opens in a browser window.

Your computer must have the free Adobe Acrobat reader installed in order to view

Introduction

This chapter describes the features of the NETGEAR DG632 ADSL Modem Router. The DG632

modem router is a combination of a built-in ADSL modem, router, and firewall which enables

your network to safely share an Internet connection that otherwise is used by a single computer.

About the Modem

The DG632 ADSL Modem Router provides continuous, high-speed 10/100 Ethernet access

between your Ethernet devices. The DG632 modem router enables your network to share an

Internet connection through the built-in ADSL modem that otherwise is used by a single computer.

With minimum setup, you can install and use the modem within minutes.

The included firewall and Network Address Translation (NAT) features protect you from hackers.
