IPv6 Routing
Check the box to the left of the
Name
of the route you wish
to enable.
Enter a specific
Name
to identify this route.
This is the IP address of the router used to reach the specified
destination, or enter the IPv6 address prefix length of the
packets that will take this route.
Enter the
Metric
value for this rule, which indicates the cost
of using this route.
Use the drop-down menu to specify whether the IP packet
must use the
WAN
or
LAN
interface to transit out of the router.
Enter the IP address of the router, if any, used to reach the
specified destination.

Admin
This screen allows you to change the Administrator settings, and also to enable remote management.
Tools
Enter a new
Password
for the Admin account. Enter it again to verify the
password.
Enter a system name.
Check to
Enable
a challenge-response test requiring users to type characters
from a distorted image displayed on the screen to prevent hackers and
unauthorized users from gaining access to your router’s network settings.
Check to
Enable HTTPS
to connect to the router securely. This means to
connect to the router, you must enter

(for example)
instead of

://192.168.0.1
.
Check to
Enable Remote Management
, which allows the DIR-866L to
be configured from the Internet using a web browser. A username and
password is still required to access the Web Management interface.
Enter the port number used in the URL to access the DIR-866L. For example:
where x.x.x.x is the Internet IP address of the DIR-866L
and 8080 is the port used for the Web Management interface.
If you
check the box to enable the
HTTPS Server,
you must enter

as part of the URL to access the router remotely.

Time
Displays the current date and time of the router’s
internal system clock.
Select your
Time Zone
from the drop-down menu.
Check the box to

manual entry of Daylight
Saving time.
Enter a Daylight Saving

Check the box to

NTP (Network Time Protocol)
server.
Select an NTP server from the drop-down menu.

SysLog
The DIR-866L keeps a running log of events and activities occurring on the Router. You may send these logs to a SysLog server
on your network.
Enable Logging to
SysLog Server:
Check this box to

Enter the
IP Address
of the Syslog server that will be
used for sending the logs to. You may also select your
Computer Name
from the drop-down menu (only
if receiving an IP address from the router via DHCP).

Email Settings
The Email Settings screen is for sending system log files, router alert messages, and firmware update notifications to your e-mail address.

for sending e-mail.
Enter the SMTP port used on the server.
Check this box if your SMTP server requires authentication.

for sending e-mail.

associated with the account. Re-type the
password for verification.
When this box is checked, logs will be sent via e-mail to your account
when the log is full.
When this box is checked, logs will be sent via e-mail according to
schedule.
When the box by

is checked, you can select

or
choose a schedule from the drop-down menu. To create a schedule,
go to
Tools > Schedules
.
Detail will display the selected schedule.
