Static DNS
(1-3). The Domain Name System (DNS) is how the Internet translates domain or website names into
Internet addresses or URLs. Your ISP will provide you with at least one DNS Server IP Address. If you wish to use
another, type that IP Address in one of these fields. You can type up to three DNS Server IP Addresses here. The
Router will use these for quicker access to functioning DNS servers.
WINS
. The Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) manages each PC’s interaction with the Internet. If you use
a WINS server, enter that server’s IP Address here. Otherwise, leave this blank.
Time Setting
Change the time zone in which your network functions from this pull-down menu. Click the checkbox to have the
Router automatically adjust the clock for daylight savings time.
Change these settings as described here, and click the

Configure mobile network settings and view mobile status information for the Router. Some of these settings are
automatically configured and, in most cases, do not need to be changed unless you are instructed to do so.
Mobile Network Settings
PIN Code
. If required, enter the PIN code of your SIM card. The code will be stored here for future reference by
the Router, and you will not have to re-enter this unless you change SIM cards.
Auto Connect
. If this feature is enabled, the Router will automatically connect to the default HSDPA/3G/UMTS or
GPRS network when it powers on. To enable this feature, select one of two available options,
Connect on
Demand
or
Keep Alive
. The default is
Disable
.
Connect on Demand: Max Idle Time. The Connect on Demand option enables the Router to automatically
re-establish your connection as soon as you attempt to access the Internet again. To use this option, select
Connect on Demand
. In the
Max Idle Time
field, enter the number of minutes you want to have elapsed
before your 3G/UMTS connection terminates.
Keep Alive Option: Redial Period. In Keep Alive mode, the Router will periodically check your Internet
connection. If you are disconnected, then the Router will automatically re-establish your connection. When
the connection through the Internet port fails, the 3G/UMTS connection will be activated. When the
connection through the Internet port resumes, then the 3G/UMTS connection will be terminated. To use this
option, select
Keep Alive
. In the
Redial Period
field, specify how often you want the Router to check the
Internet connection. The default Redial Period is
30
seconds.
Reset data card after _ failed connection attempts. If you enable this feature, then the Router resets the data
card after the specified number of failed attempts, and then it tries to connect again. The default is
5
attempts.
Link Check. If the Keep Alive and Reset data card options are enabled, you can use these options to check the
response from the Internet:
LCP. To use this feature, select
LCP
. Set the time interval and number of missed replies for the receiving of the
Link Control Protocol response.
ICMP. To use this feature, select
ICMP
. Set the time interval and number of missed replies for the receiving of
the Internet Control Message Protocol response.
Reboot after _ seconds since last ICMP replay received. When the 3G/UMTS connection is active, the Router
will periodically check the connection by contacting a time server using ICMP. If the connection is terminated,

then the Router will not receive a reply. To restore the connection, reboot the Router to restore all settings; the
data card will automatically try to connect after the Router powers up. If you enable this feature, then the
Router reboots after the specified number of seconds since the last ICMP reply was received. Enter the
number of seconds. The default is
300
.
Keep Alive Server1. Enter the IP address of the server.
Keep Alive Server2. Enter the IP address of the server.
To enable the function:
1.
The Router pings the Keep Alive Server1 every 30 seconds.
2.
If there is no ping reply, the Router will continue to ping the Keep Alive Server1 five times.
3.
If the Router receives the ping reply, then the timer and counter will reset. If two servers are specified, the
ICMP echo request timing will be interleaved equally between the servers. For example, if the interval is
20 seconds, server 1 will be sent its first echo request at 0 seconds, and server 2 will be sent its first echo
request at 10 seconds. Server 1’s second request will be sent at 20 seconds, and so forth. If there are
more than three missed replies, then the connection will be terminated and restarted.
4.
The router will disconnect the connection automatically if it doesn't receive the reply from Keep Alive
Server2. (Total time => Server1: 6 times, Server2: 5 times)
5.
The Router will try to reconnect after the Keep Alive Redial Period.
Disconnect if idle for
. If you want to disconnect the Router from the HSDPA/3G/UMTS or GPRS network if no data
has been sent or received from the Vodafone network for a specific period of time, then enter the number of
minutes you want to specify in the field provided.
