Chapter 3
Installation
CD Setup
You can set up this unit with the included software CD. Insert the CD into your PC and follow the
instructions on the screen.
* CD Setup is supported for Windows 7/Vista/XP only.
Manual Setup
To configure your AirStation manually, follow the procedure below.

Turn off your computer and modem.

Unplug the LAN cable which connects
your computer and modem.

Plug one end of the LAN cable into your modem and the other side to the Internet port of the
AirStation. Turn on your modem.

Connect your computer to one of the AirStation’s LAN ports with the Ethernet cable.
Turn on the AirStation, wait one minute, and then turn on your computer.

Confirm the devices are connected correctly as the below diagram shows.

Wait for a while, and then make sure that the AirStation’s LEDs are lit as described below:

Refer to page 8 and 10 for LED locations and other details.

Launch a web browser. If the“home”setup screen is displayed, setup is complete.
If a user name and password screen are displayed, enter "
root
" (in lower case) for the user
name, leave the password blank, and click“
OK”
. Follow the instructions on the screen to
complete setup.
You’ve completed initial setup of your AirStation. Refer to Chapter 4 for advanced settings.

WDS Setup
To extend Wireless coverage, add a new Airstation to an existing Wireless network. Install the new
AirStation between the existing Wireless AP and wireless devices by using WDS feature.
Refer to the following procedure to set up WDS connection.
Note: Confirm the target wireless AP supports WDS.

Insert the CD into your PC and follow the instructions on the screen.

When the below screen appears, click“
Start
”and follow the instruction on the screen by
clicking“Next“.

When the below screen appears, click“
WDS Setup
”.
The wizard will guide you through connection and LED’s meanings.

When the below screen appears, select“
AOSS configuration
”or“
Manual Configuration
“ from
“Select WDS Setup method“.
AirStation will attempt to connect to other wireless AP to set up WDS.
If the target wireless AP is the AirStation that supports WDS, select“
AOSS configuration
and push AOSS button on the target AP.
If the target AP is not the AirStation, select“
Manual Configuration
“ then click“
Scan for
SSID
“. A list of available wireless AP will be generated. Select the target AP’s SSID from the
list and click“
Next
“ to continue with security information settings.

Step through the wizard to complete the setup.
If you’ve selected“
AOSS configuration
“ during the setup, the existing AOSS connection
between the target wireless AP and computers has been disconnected. Set up AOSS
connection again (page 77).
